Thomas

I was born on a spiritual journey. We are all born on spiritual journeys, and some of us lose that knowledge as we age and adjust to the world. But I was blessed, I was born to parents who believed and who strove to fan that spark of hope and love that exists in all of us. I know there are others out there like me, I keep meeting them…

I wish I had time to give you the credentials of all of the teachers that I have had. From my father who walked with me on my spiritual journey until he joined the spirit world again. To the artist who first showed me how to use colour, and the people in Canada and around the world who I have worked with. They have all taught me much.

I learn by observation. Many people do… but then we lack the self-confidence to do that thing. I am on the journey of learning how to do. It started with a camera – watching a professional photographer, reading, learning, following lines of inquiry – learning how to do “that” trick… This led me to the contemplative practice of photography.

Ah and then my life takes off – I spend more time in nature, connect with the earth and the tree spirits, then I discover art therapy and begin the same line of inquiry that I used with photography. I experimented, played, and made glorious messes. And then my art began helping people.

Here is my life’s purpose. I am on a journey of helping others. There is no doubt in my mind that this is my calling.

My professional skills are wide-reaching. I love to work in design on the computer, particularly working with photography, and have had a lot of experience doing this. Community development is another passion. I love bringing people together to work towards a common goal. I have other skills that have served me well, but as I define myself anew today, with these words, their importance seems to fall away. As my friends will tell you, all you have to do is ask me – if I can’t figure it out, chances are I know someone who can.
