Reset our Relationship with Nature

Updated: Apr 6, 2019

A challenge from Joyce Msuya, the Acting Executive Director of the UN Environment, in the video shown below, includes the need to "reset our relationship with nature" and that is a challenge that we are up to!

Are you willing to reset your relationship with Nature? Within? Because that is where it all starts.

Where do you see your connection with nature. Is it inside? What is your relationship with this inner world? How do you connect to it on a regular basis?

For healing nature outside we need to heal the relationship with nature inside. It is the same as healing the inner child. The work has to be done on the inside first. And when you are connected, when you recognize your unique relationship to nature, then everything will be different!

This is not just about the environment, it is about how we live in our world. We are connected to everything in a giant symbiotic web. Yet humanity attempts to live outside that web.

We are in conflict with everything, nothing is symbiotic. We are in conflict with animals (witness our encroachment on their lands), we are in conflict with growth (constantly cutting back and weeding for aesthetic pleasure and consumption) and we are in conflict with the weather (where we can't control it, we make it the enemy, characterizing every change as an attack).

We need to return to nature in a holistic way. What NatureWithin.net offers is an opportunity to acknowledge that inner space and express it in a safe, and natural environment. Your journey within begins with identifying a safe space in nature where you can freely explore your connection to nature. You can learn to see where conflicts may not be necessary, and new paths to positive experiences will open up.

There are many ways that we can re-examine our relationship with nature, but until we are ready to acknowledge that we are a part of nature, not external to it, then nothing will change. We are in nature and nature is in us. We are the ones who are suffering most as the world is literally being consumed, by us, before our eyes.

Taking this time to reflect on how you can improve your relationship with the environment means taking time to reflect on how you can treat yourself better in a natural way. With our workshop program, you can explore nature within through a series of meditations and simple journalling exercises. And when you do get out to enjoy nature it will be all the better, because you will be more in tune with what is going on around you, more able to appreciate it all.

We invite you to join us on this journey, whether through the workshops or simply joining our online community.

All we need to do is think beyond and live within.
