An Autumn Invocation

The time of the colours has passed.

The trees are bare, awaiting their winter coats of insulating snow.

The time of the gathering has passed.

The fields are ploughed and trimmed for the coming cold.

The time of lingering in the sun’s rays has passed.

We make ourselves ready for the long nights and short days.

As creation prepares to rest, we are reminded of the cycle of renewal,

And while we await the changing season we prepare.

We prepare our hands to do good things.

We prepare our minds to think strong thoughts.

We prepare by releasing ourselves to the cycle of renewal that brings eternal growth.

We prepare by shedding what does not serve us anymore.

We prepare by gathering together with friends and family.

We prepare and await the thaw that we might remember our sacred role and reunite with nature.
